Campbell Coaling tower competed

I finally finished this build. Took a little over 2 months of part time work. This and the Sargent's roundhouse are 2 of the main structures I need for my engine terminal 2'x5' diorama. I'll build a few small "support" structures soon. My next major project will be a 3'x6' waterfront diorama.

Here are the final pics.I'll get back to this whenI get the replacement Wather's turntable.

The 2 brass rods are for lighting the interior of the hoist house

I put coal in the pit before putting in the grates, used diluted white glue to hold the coal down.

This was a fun and interesting build, but I'm happy it's done. This was a 2 bottles of scotch project!

Campbell coal tower part whatever

Almost finished with this model!
This project has been one of the more challaging models that I've built in a long time. I've got the roofs finished and weathered. I made my corrugated and not shingled as supplied in the kit.

I need to touch up the underside of the roof since I see some shining metal.
A great way t improve your models is to take pictures of it and enlarge them. This way you can see things you might have missed

The gate mechanism was a bit fiddly. I would love to see the real gate in person, as I'm not sure about the lower end of the coal bin as built from the kit. From the pics of the real one in Chama, the coal gate drops down, but the floor joists are in the way. Sounds like I need to go on a road trip and look at this in person.

In the photo above, you can see the coal gate winding pulleys sticking out. I drilled them out and super glued them to some brass rod. These will locate the coal bin at the correct height.

Here is the finished coal bin. I added a piece of styene to the back side to raise the height of the wall as per the pics of Durago's tower. Chama is the same
